Mat Class is a traditional PILATES class that also utilizes props such as the magic circle, foam rollers, arc barrels, bands and balls. The mat series of exercises was created by Joseph Pilates in order to gain muscle control, correct improper breathing habits, and strengthen the entire body. Besides focusing on spinal alignment, we will pay particular attention to both the shoulder and pelvic girdles in order to gain core strength, postural awareness and better overall movement habits.

Chair Class utilizes the Pilates Wunda Chair, invented as a result of Joseph Pilates’ observation of Chinese acrobatic maneuvers on a "box"; when turned over it doubles as an actual chair. Pilates enthusiasts are drawn to the Chair because of its versatility and challenge. In a Chair class, you will get the opportunity to challenge and improve one's individual strength, flexibility and balance. In addition, you will have the chance to experience the Pilates concepts on a piece of equipment that focuses on the lower unit of the body as well as stability of the whole body.

PRIVATE SESSIONS ARE BY APPOINTMENT

A one-on-one lesson utilizing the PILATES machines as well as incorporating mat work into the session can be scheduled by appointment. Private sessions are perfect for those students who wish to have 100% of an instructor's attention. Private sessions are also recommended for students with special physical needs or limitations. Semi-private lessons( with 2 or more people) are also available by appointment.

It is highly recommended that all new students take at least one private lesson (we call it the evaluation session) whether you are brand new to PILATES or have previous experience because it will help us to evaluate your personal needs and abilities in order to direct you to the classes or individual sessions that will best support your individual fitness goals.
